A Vest Usage SOP is pretty simple. After November of this year, it's mandatory by federal regulation, and the regulations also identify which type of vest is required. The best place to start looking for this information is in the MUTCD, Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices. That regulation also gives guidance on how to lay out scene markings on roadways, and the amount of warning signage needed based on the length of the incident. An SOP about Roadway operations needs to be a collaborative effort between the Fire Department, Law Enforcement and DOT, so everyone is on the same page when it comes to response operations.

Thanks for the link to Responder Safety. I couldn't remember their website when I wrote my comments, and got busy doing other things and forgot to look them up.

I have also checked out responder safety but I am looking for anyone that has a copy of their departments SOP for the trafffic vests. Also any policies particularly what happens if they don't wear the vests.

Thanks
