Where firefighters come to talk training

BE GREAT!!

Brothers,

Currently our service is changing faster than we can possibly every dream to keep up with. We face many battles on a daily basis whether it is the city, the board, or the new standards that are set forth by whoever. We must keep in mind that regardless of what battles are being faced behind the scenes that we have a duty to be great at what we do. Try your hardest to not be...come so overwhelmed with your battles with whomever that you lose focus on the battles on the streets. BE GREAT! There isn’t a soul reading this that would hire a mediocre roofer to come and work on their own home, right? How about your doctor, would you go to a doctor that was “ehhhh I guess he’s ok, doesn’t really know anything about todays world but he’s alright”? Then think about why we allow others in our service to be mediocre at their jobs? We have a no BS duty to be amazing at many things and to know our job inside and out and if we refuse to train ourselves to the standards that will allow us to be great then what in the hell are you here for? Scenario: you are not a firefighter anymore and never where; you’re sitting at home with yours kids and BAM someones yelling for help! You rush in and see one of your kids hurt, choking, whatever the case may be so you call 911. A couple minutes later a pizza delivery boy rushes through the door and tries to load your child into his delivery van. Will you let him take your child? Now switch the pizza delivery boy with a firefighter and an ambulance, how about now? Can he take your child now? Yeah exactly, we are the most trusted profession in the world (besides politicians) and that is because we are expected to BE GREAT! Please push yourself on a daily basis to train and teach yourself and others so we can achieve what is expected of us! Good Sucks, BE GREAT!!
