Where firefighters come to talk training

This prop was built a little over a year ago for our truck company operations training program. The design was based on a prop used by our members when they attended the Fire Department Training Network (FDTN) Truck Company Program in Indiana.

The original prop was the single box which rested on the ground for a year. The ground level setup got our members comfortable with the operation. It also made NFPA 1403 live burn compliance easy which made for a greater training experience and increased drill repetitions.

We recently moved the prop to a box stack that will be further modified with stairwells, ventilation props and forcible entry stations as well.

Conex boxes run between $2,000 to $3,000 for the standard 40' long 8 '6" interior height size. Around the country right now firefighters are finding unbelievably creative ways to use these for training. This is just one example of a simple, straight forward and low cost set up for live fire training. Looking forward to seeing what else people are using.
