Where firefighters come to talk training

"LEADING IN A TACTICAL PARADISE" by John A. Van Doren

I have been fortunate to be associated with so many great firefighters in my fire service career and it seems only natural that this site would further enhance that experience. In a recent blog post, I asked for information on response safety for a report I am working on for the Indiana SAFE Fire Service Initiative [This initiative is modeled after the 16 Life Safety Initiatives that are designed to reduce LODD and injuries. You can access additional information at http://www.in.gov/dhs/press/archives/2007/safe.pdf ] and several responses helped me research the topic and will hopefully help others understand the importance of responding safely to and from incidents. One particular article was submitted to me by John Van Doren called "Leading in A Tactical Paradise" and I was so impressed by this article that I asked his permission [he is also the author] to post it here so others can read and benefit from it. It is a great article and was featured in Fire Engineering in 2006, Vol. 159, Issue 1. Here is the link, http://www.fireengineering.com/display_article/246729/25/none/none/... Thanks John for allowing me to post it! [anyone who can not access it, please email me and I will send the article directly to you]
