Where firefighters come to talk training
Fire claims the life of Ft. Drum Firefighter.
It is with heavy heart that we pass on news of a Fort Drum Firefighter, Mr
Garrett Loomis.
Volunteering with the Sackets Harbor Fire Department Fire Fighter Loomis
responded to a silo fire at the above location. While investigating the
source of the fire and explosion occurred striking Fire Fighter Loomis. EMS
personnel immediately started life savings measures, but Fire Fighter
Loomis' injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead at the Samaritan
Medical Center by the attending Emergency Room Physician.
Fire Fighter Loomis was 26 years old. He began his career with the Fort Drum
Fire & Emergency Services Division on January 21, 2009.
