Using a hale qmax pump, what is the correct position of the pump shift when the operator chooses to run water through the pump-but not actually pumping (the transmission is in neutral)?

I remember hearing because of Hale's Auto-Lube System, whenever water is entering the pump via an intake, then the pump shift should be in: either Pump or Neutral so the shaft is lubricated...I don't remember. Can anyone help out? Thanks

I've been told by the factory reps that the pump shift should be in pump. The explanation is that the auto lube system would already be working since its diaphragm gets pressurized by the intake side of the pump. The stuff that needs to be lubricated is the gears in the gear box. If you don't have it in pump then the impeller shaft, and intermediate gear are turning without benefit of lubrication. If you engage the pump gear, that will turn the bottom gear and "splash" the oil out of the bottom of the gear box.
Thanks Alan,

So to summarize, keep the pump shift in "PUMP" while keeping the transmission in NEUTRAL when water is flowing "thru" the pump.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
