Where firefighters come to talk training

Is anybody using any commercially available GPS navigation units in fire apparatus or in ambulances? I'm starting to research them for my department and wanted to see if anyone has any good, bad or otherwise about them. Thanks, stay safe.

William,

My fire department has them in the mutual aid engine company and ambulance. We put them in those two units because they respond out of town on mutual aid or to hospitals located out of town. They work out real well for us because we are able to respond to an unfamilar area out of town with some guidance. As far as the other apparatus, we don't have them in there due to the fact that most of the time they respond to alarms only in town, which you should already know. definately a good idea to have them in your apparatus, it's a big help.

We have them in our Ambulance and Command car for use when responding for mutual aid. We do not have them in our engine or truck figuring they will follow the command to the scene. Works out well so far.
