Where firefighters come to talk training
Community Outreach
Hello all,
I am volunteer Lieutenant in a NJ fire department. I am also head of community involvment in our fire department. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to strengthen the relationship between the community and fire department. Last year, we invited the press to a few of our training scenarios, went to a few schools for fire prevention, and held our annual open house.
I am just looking to expand our outreach program, and even possibly get a few new members. ANY suggestions or hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We had great success in developing a web site where the public can hear listen to our radio traffic, offer safety information, FAQ, photos and recent fires and rescues as well as high little our efforts in the community. newhavenfirefighter.org

Do you have any universities or high school's in your area? Many high school aged kids will have great interest in joining as a volunteer and college live-in programs are becoming huge to assist in staffing.
